RebelMouse,YouTube Paid Channels, Trust Is King (not content), Speedlink 19:2013

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a great and productive week. This week, I stumbled upon a service called “RebelMouse”, and don’t ask me if it is new or not, as I really don’t know 🙂 Anyway, Rebelmouse is really a very interesting platform, and one that I am not yet sure what to make of it. It could be a “social blogging platform”, some sort of “curation site”, or simply a place where you can organize your online presence into one neat looking site. It literally “integrates all your social networks in one place”. And you can add any feed, your social accounts, post directly, the whole shebang. Here’s an example of “one of the pages” I already started to test it. I’m just scratching the surface!

RebelMouse Social Integration

Mind you, I am talking about this one platform because I simply like the concept and just by scratching the surface, I can already tell that there is a lot you can do with it. May look similar to other services out there, but I really don’t think so. Just check it out and let me know what you think about it, and what “clever” ways you can do with it. Have you heard about this platform before?

Here’s Founder and CEO of RebelMouse, Paul Berry, with an interview on Bloomberg.

Earlier this week, YouTube has launched their pilot program for a small group of partners that will now be able to offer paid subscriptions to their channels. The most obvious reason for this new program is for creators to increase their revenue potential. Not sure where this is heading, but it may just be a matter of time until we are able to subscribe to channels such as sports, movies, etc.. Right now the available channels are not so great, but it will certainly grow in no time. Maybe, you can even create your own paid channel… Say you can really create some awesome videos of “how to type” stuff on just about anything. Instead of having it available for the public, why not make some money out of it? What do you think? Anyway, if you are interested in building your own paid channel, you can do so here.

Last, but not least, one of the articles that I found very interesting this week was that from SEOmoz.org stating that “content isn’t king”, but rather “trust” is. I have to admit that this really caught my attention as the “content is king” thing has and is being used perhaps in the wrong way. Fads like “build them and they will come”, and “content is king”, really needs some change in perspective and I think that this article does just that. Good read!

That’s it! Enjoy, have a great weekend and for all those “moms” out there, Happy Mother’s Day!
