Pinterest, Google+ Search, Social Web, SEO, Speedlink 02:2012

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a great and productive week. Undoubtedly, one of the most noteworthy news this week was about Google+ Search Your World. This move from Google appeared to have “pis*** off” a lot of people, most particularly Twitter, who publicly announced a statement to various news outlets, Tuesday afternoon. Google responded quickly by saying “that were surprised about Twitter’s statement” (http://goo.gl/KeaVU). Anyway, what do you think about this? Would this move from Google provide actually better quality and relevant results?

On a side note, have you heard about Pinterest yet? Pinterest is relatively new and is growing an image based social network, set to be the newest darling for the social web enthusiasts. Yesterday, I saw this Tweet from Matt Cutts. Don’t know about you, but when he recommends something, I usually pay a bit of attention to it πŸ™‚

If you haven’t seen Pinterest, it’s a pretty awesome site: http://t.co/sz0Pm89H Highly recommended. Friday, January 13, 2012 5:29:11 PM

If you want to find out a bit more about Pinterest and the benefits of participating in that network, just head over to Brankica’s website and read her Pinterest Guide.

As usual, in no particular order:

Blogging/Online Business (tips and tools)

SEO/Marketing

Social Web/Other Stuff

How can good sites that don’t know about SEO rank well?

  • Fransisco, Thanks for including my post man.. partnered with some good reads.

  • DiTesco, there are quite a few I missed this week that you have pointed out. Thanks for including the guest post from Joseph, he’s a real go-getter! Matt’s advice in the video is a tough pill for some to swallow. However I’ve always felt that with great content that offers value can show up in search results after applying some basic rules of thumb.
    Talk to you soon!

    • Hey lleane!!
I agree with your point.By the way Joseph congrats for your successful guest post.

      • Hi Rizwan, thanks for agreeing with me πŸ™‚

  • Great roundup, DiTesco.

Those are some great posts, that I missed this week. I really like Josesph’s post about “why you might fail as a blogger”

    Have a great weekend, mate.

  • Hi DiTesco, first of all thank you SO MUCH for the gracious link back, it’s always encouraging to know someone is reading your post and sharing with their network. You’re definitely a sweet, kind friend. πŸ™‚ Second of all, thank you for sharing all these wonderful resources, especially the video that I can use to reply some of my clients inquiries about is it possible to rank higher with no SEO skills. I must agree with Ileane in her comment, I myself started off as somebody who knows nothing to a tiny, little bit of SEO techniques. I would really love to concentrate on writing useful content and not worry too much about ever-changing search algorithm, that would be a dream come true.

  • I actually came across Pinterest a while ago, but didn’t give it much thought. I guess you are right, if Matt brings it up, it’s probably something to pay attention to.

  • Agree on Pinterest, everyone is talking about them and now that (Matt C) has mentioned them, it’s definitely time to pay attention. Lol. I’ve been to it and even have a received a few links from it on one of my sites. A member there pinned one of my article or images, not sure what is pinned? And I’ve gotten a smudge of traffic from the PIN. This is how I first learned of the site.

I signed up sometime last week and just a few days ago received the coveted invite. So will give them a good look this week and set up a page, or PIN or whatever you call it. Lol.

    Cheers!

p.s. Loved the video at the end of your post from MATT C on newbies and SEO. Thanks for sharing it.

  • Hey DiTesco, thanks for the kind shoutout. Lots of great posts this week for sure! Which plugin are you using for this that is picking up favicons?

  • Hi DiTesco,

Thanks for the heads up on Pinterest where I’ve just requested an invite.

Any thoughts about why Matt might have thought it praiseworthy? Just a good site or potentially strategically beneficial to Google?
